Storyboard Practice

I wanted to get in some practice with different compositions, so I sketched out a scene from the Matrix. This film compositions are beautifully controlled, which I feel is due to the fact that most of the film was storyboard out. This attention to every shot really makes the film a piece or art which I can't say for it's predecessors (I'm looking at you squeals).

This is the scene in where Neo has deja vu of a black cat. I feel entitled to inform you because my cat looks like a small hippo.

I wish I tried harder to get Neo's likeness, but the character is really generic looking when compared to everyone else.

Digital Painting

So, I haven't uploaded in a long time, so guess it's time to make up for lost time. eyah! So, this is just showing my process while painting this sketch. Used corel, because I really love its ability to mix paints.

Children's book

This is a children's book I worked on about a friendly monster that lived with a family. There is the front and back cover in this post, along with some screen shots. Most of the illustrations are just the concept and designs that went into the whole process.

Children's nursery rhyme illustration

This was a freelance job where I had to illustrate a nursery rhyme. My client had two images, one of a misty meadow and one of a girl on a boat.

Here's the charcoal thumb nails. I did two designs, ones with two illustrations next to each other and a illustration that combines the two ideas.

Here's the different color studies. I tried to use soothing night time colors.

My client wanted to have the final colors be a mix of the middle and last color study. I was please with the final line drawing.

Here's the 1/2 way point.

And the final product, with a couple close ups.

I had a lot of freedom on this project and was able to work completely traditionally. It also was the first project I timed myself on. Sadly, I am a slower illustrator than I thought.
